My own rainbow.

POST 262.

It took me 3 minutes to figure out how to rename a folder in a mac.

I am really starting to dislike macbooks. Initially when I had nothing but my horridly old senior citizen thinkpad, I wanted a macbook so bad and now, it's starting to tick me off. First off, even though the mac has this kind of really organized classic kinda thing that I like, it can get so horridly complicated for such a simple looking machine. with simple applications and icons. Take the Macintosh HD thing for example. All I wanted to do was to rename this folder and things can get just so wrong.

In windows, all you have to do is hold down the left click or double click the name and you can rename. The longest step? Right clicking it and going down to the option 'Rename'. Whereas for the mac, I right clicked the folder and saw no rename option so I clicked the 'Get Info' option. Everything was shown about the folder, the size of it, when it was created, blah but nothing about renaming the folder. Oh bugger. So I tried the hold down the key method and it didn't work either. It was not until what 3 minutes later? I figured out that under the 'Get Info' option, there is. an option where it says something like Names and Extension where I can change the name of the folder. How horridly complicated for such a simple function.

What I do like about the macs though is that there's spotlight where you type in something, for example 'iTunes', iTunes would show and you can just open it from there, or other internet pages. Also, the help option in applications is just an awesome help. It's pretty much like a simplified search engine where you type in key words and a list of help guides related that would pop up. Way better than window's Get Help alright.

Oh and another thing that gets on my nerves once in awhile. Deleting garbage. There is no such thing as a 'delete' key. I have to select the pieces of garbage and drag it to the trash bin. Sometimes it gets really frustrating when you think you have put all of it in the trash bin and then only realising later you didn't quite do it and they all ended up on your desktop instead. Oh grrr.

What else. Ah things like MSN. Alright so maybe this actually might be me not downloading the latest version of MSN because I pretty much can't be bothered but, my MSN on this mac is so horridly old. ( Not old to the point where you can't put display pictures and only can send messages. please. ) It is windows live but I can't receive hand drawn messages and can't play games. Hmphs. Somehow I have a feeling the mac has something to do with this. I'm guessing it's my own wild imagination. AND I'M SO USED TO CLICKING COMMAND + S when typing out long things like this to save it on pages that I keep doing it now on blogger which is duh, wrong because I would be saving this page. -.-

Oh and now I remember. Something else that frustrates me is the html. When I'm blogging and want to switch from let's say red to black. When I click edit Html, all these horridly weird html codes appear like, apple style span rgb instead of just the short and simple CSS colours. How hard to edit is that. And is it just macs or does my blockquote not work?

AND I CAN'T DOWNLOAD NORMAL WINDOWS GAMES ONTO MY MAC EITHER! D: That is plainly annoying. I have to search, specially for MAC games because downloading the WINDOWS version ain't going to work here. I did consider installing windows as well but according to my advisor in school, she said it slowed down her macbook a lot. Speaking of that, I don't even know what happened to my 120 GB space? It suddenly just went all the way down to 94.39 GB. And I don't even know where all that 30 + GB went to. I know maybe about 5GB on my iTunes videos and music but what about the rest? I already deleted most of my garbage like the blog pictures which was a loadsome and already deleted my old documents and what, I claimed back a few hundred MB. This, is so wrong.

Anyway, I think I shall go back into planning my essay. Yes I feel a sudden urge to do extremely well on this english essay by planning it early ( it's due next week ) so that I don't have to pull it all together last minute again. I shall try to get a 7 for this term though it's highly unlikely but I'd like to try. And, it's a story so hopefully my crazy imagination would help me out. I have currently, no ideas how to start the story ( yes it's a story. Allegory to be precise. ) and so I'm still, d: typing and deleting lines. But my plan is 95% complete with the storyline and characters all done up.

Have I ever been that organized and motivated to score high? NEVER. D:

Oh and guess what? It's my brother's 13th birthday today ( though really ain't much of a change in his head. MINDSET D: )
